Emily Peca is a fine artist based in Chicago, IL. She earned her BFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, in 2025. Being from a family of professional athletes, Peca draws on her lifetime of experience in the sports entertainment world as a pivotal visual theme throughout her work. These motifs of physicality, competition, and problem-solving are paired with absurd imagery and characters to form vibrating competitions showcasing irrational conflict. Her commentary on sport and physicality becomes absurdist in nature as a woman who cannot compete due to chronic pain from genetic disorders, which shines through in scenes that, at times, are comedic and playful, and other times crude and conflicted. Though the artist's techniques represent a background in drawing and abstract expressionism, her finished visuals become more literal, showcasing the human body as a vessel through unending conflict.
